Deep Ellum is a vibrant entertainment district on the East Side of Downtown Dallas with a rich history in commerce, industry, arts, music and culture dating back to the late 1800s.From a hotbed for early Jazz and Blues Musicians in the 1920s to the explosion of bands in the 1980s, today Deep Ellum is still has one of Texas’ largest concentration of live music venues. Graffiti tagged shops and buildings line the streets and buildings that were once factories for titans of industry, such as the Continental Gin Co. & Ford Motor Co. have since been converted in industrial Lofts for residential use. The past few years have been good to Deep Ellum, attracting more restaurants, shopping, nightlife and residences and solidifying the need to keep the quirky arts scene alive an well in Dallas.
